5 Enterprise Tools You Can Replace This Weekend

The easiest enterprise software to self-host. Each takes under 2 hours to deploy and can save you thousands per year.

The rules

Each tool on this list meets three criteria:

  1. Deploys in under 2 hours with Docker
  2. Has a mature, stable release
  3. Saves at least $50/seat/year

All you need is a Linux server (a $5/mo VPS works) and basic command-line comfort.

1. Plausible Analytics (replaces Google Analytics)

Saves: $150-$1,800/seat/year | Deploy time: 30 minutes

Plausible is the easiest win on this list. One Docker Compose file, one environment variable for your domain, done. No cookie banners needed — it’s privacy-first by design.

# Clone and start
git clone https://github.com/plausible/community-edition
cd community-edition
docker compose up -d

The dashboard is cleaner than Google Analytics and tells you everything you actually need: visitors, sources, pages, countries. Nothing more.

2. Vaultwarden (replaces 1Password/LastPass)

Saves: $48-$96/seat/year | Deploy time: 20 minutes

Vaultwarden is a lightweight Bitwarden-compatible server. It works with all official Bitwarden apps — browser extensions, mobile apps, desktop clients. Your team won’t even notice the switch.

3. Gitea (replaces GitHub Pro)

Saves: $48-$252/seat/year | Deploy time: 45 minutes

Gitea is a single binary that runs anywhere. Built-in CI/CD with Gitea Actions (GitHub Actions compatible). Import your repos directly from GitHub with one click.

4. Mattermost (replaces Slack)

Saves: $102/seat/year | Deploy time: 1 hour

Self-hosted team chat with channels, threads, file sharing, and integrations. Import your Slack history. Mobile apps for iOS and Android.

5. Nextcloud (replaces Dropbox/Google Drive)

Saves: $120-$180/seat/year | Deploy time: 1 hour

File sync, calendar, contacts, online office editing. Mobile apps with auto-upload. The Swiss Army knife of self-hosted software.

Total savings for a 10-person team

ToolAnnual savings
Plausible$900
Vaultwarden$960
Gitea$480
Mattermost$1,020
Nextcloud$1,800
Total$5,160/year

Server cost: $60/year on a basic VPS. Net savings: $5,100/year.

These are the warm-up. Once you’re comfortable self-hosting, check the full Directory for more ambitious replacements.
